For 5 months Tomas buys 4 boxes of crunchy granola bars and 3 boxes of chewy granola bars for his family.

Crunchy bars come in x bars and chewy granola bars come in y bars. Which two expressions can be used to
show the total number of granola bars Tomas buys.

Answer:

5(4x + 3y) = 20x + 15y

Explanation:

The matter of months in which in this case is 5 months is the coefficient.

The amount of boxes per month is important information. We don't know how many bars are in each box. EACH is a key word for multiplying. If we want to know quickly how many bars are in 4 boxes (or 3) of the granola bars. We can simply multiply the amount of bars for each box with the amount of boxes. Since we don't know the amount of bars there are in each box we are going to use a variable. so it would look like this- 4x + 3y BUT we need to add the coefficient. Now rewrite the expression. 5(4x + 3y)

We can use the distributive property to generate an equal expression.
