The lengths of the legs of a right triangle are 8 yards and 15 yards. What is the length, in yards, of the third side of the triangle?

By inspection it can' be C or D since they are shorter than the 15 yard side.

Also B is just slightly big than 15, so it is mostly likely incorrect

I would guess A is the answer, proven to be INCORRECT see below

the correct answer is B. 17 yards

check the answer using the pythagorean theorem

a² + b² = c²

a = 8

b = 15

c = √(64 + 225)

= √289

= 17 my guess was wrong!!!!
