A ball with a mass of .012 kg moving at 15.0 m/s collides with a second ball with a mass of 36 g
moving at 5.0 m/s. After the collision, the 12 g ball moves in the same direction at 6.0 m/s. What
is the resulting velocity of the 36 g ball????

Answer:

Solve:

1/2(.5)(36)+1/2(1)(144)=

1/2(.5)(196)+1/2(1)(x^2)

9+72=49+.5x^2

81=49+.5x^2

32=.5x^2

64=x^2

x=8 m/s

Thus, the speed of the second ball after the collision is 8 m/s.

Hope this helps! Good luck!
