Answer:

x = 17.32 ,y = 10

Explanation:

Use ratio of cosine :-

  • cos 30° = x/20
  • √3/2 = x/20
  • x = √3/2 * 20
  • x = 10√3
  • x = 10 * 1.732
  • x = 17.32

Use ratio of sine :-

  • sin 30° = y/20
  • 1/2 = y/20
  • y = 20 *1/2
  • y = 10

Answer:

x = 17.32

y = 10

Explanation:

USsing the SOH CAH TOA identity

sin theta = opp/hyp

sin 30 = y/20

y = 20sin30

y = 20(0.5)

y = 10

Using Pythagoras theorem to get the value of x

20^2 = x^2 + y^2

400 = x^2 + 10^2

400 - 100 = x^2

300 =x^2

x = √300

x = 17.32
