If Wheaton had a population of 6,500 that grew to 7,000 after 4 years, what would the population be after 12 years?

Answer:

if the population increases by 500 every four years that means in twelve years the population will be

12/4multiplied by 500 which will be 3 multiplied by 500 which is 1500

if this is added to the population 12 years ago it will be 7000+1500=8500.

that's the answer.
