Question: a body of mass 30 kg moving north a velocity of 0.5 ms-1 subjected of 15 N North for 2.7 s. Calculate the final velocity of the body.

Answer:

14 m/s

Step-by-step explanation:

From the question,

F = ma......................... Equation 1

make a the subject of the equation

a = F/m....................... Equation 2

Given: F = 15 N, m = 30 kg.

Substitute these values into equation 2

a = 15/3

a = 5 m/s².

Using,

a = (v-u)/t.................... Equation 3

Where v = final velocity, u = initial velocity, t = time.

Given: u = 0.5 m/s, t = 2.7 s and a = 5 m/s²

Substitute these values into equation 3

5 = (v-0.5)/2.7

(v-0.5) = 5×2.7

v-0.5 = 13.5

v = 13.5+0.5

v = 14 m/s
