Answer:

Cylinder container (right)

Explanation:

  • Volume of a cone = (1/3)
    \pir²h
  • Volume of a cylinder =
    \pir²h
  • Radius = (1/2) diameter

  • \pi ≈ 3.14

Left (cone) container

r = 12 ÷ 2 = 6 cm

h = 19 cm

⇒ Volume = (1/3) x 3.14 x 6² x 19 = 715.92 cm³

Cost $6.75

Cost per cm³ = 6.75 ÷ 715.92 = $0.009428...

Right (cylinder) container

r = 8 ÷ 2 = 4 cm

h = 15 cm

⇒ Volume = 3.14 x 4² x 15 = 753.6 cm³

Cost $6.25

Cost per cm³ = 6.25 ÷ 753.6 = $0.008293...

Therefore the right (cylinder) container is better value as it costs less per cm³
