Can you think of a number where we multiply by 2 then subtract 4 and the result is 40 ​

22 is the correct answer!

I solved it backwards:

40 + 4 = 44

44 ÷ 2 = 22

Double-check:

22 x 2 = 44

44 - 4 = 40
