Boxes of cereal normally cost £2.89 each, but a supermarket has a special offer:

Boxes of Cereal
3 for the price of 2

Megan has £20 and she wants to get as many boxes of cereal as possible.

How many boxes can she buy?

Answer:

10 boxes

Explanation:

- 2.89*2= 5.78

20/5.78= 3.4...

which means you can spend 5.78 (the cost of two boxes) three times. now. if they're selling the boxes 3 for the price of two, you're actually getting 3*3.4 for your total amount you can purchase. 3*3.4= 10.2 obviously you can't get .2 boxes of cereal, so you round down to get 10 total boxes of cereal.
