Explanation:

I think you put the grocery store at the wrong location. You graphed point (-1, 1) while it should be at (1, -1) (i.e. one to the right then one down)

The figure drawn by 4 points on a plane (assuming no 3 points lie on the same line) is a quadrilateral

The school is at (-2, -1) while the grocery store is at (1, -1). A straight line connecting them is a horizontal line of length 3, so the two points are 3 apart.

It is possible to find the distance between the points you actually drew, but I suspect that is a bit in the future for you.
