The ratio of boys to girls in a school is 3:2. There are 1200 students in the

school. Work out the number of girls in the school.

3 : 2 :: 1200

USE x AS THE NUMBER OF GIRLS AND BOYS

So,

3x + 2x = 1200

5x = 1200

x = 1200/5

= 240

Now x is 240 and then multiple to the ratios.

BOYS- 240*3 = 720

GIRLS- 240*2 = 480
