Given a farmer ships oranges in wooden crates supposed each orange weight the same amount the total weight of crate filled with G oranges is 24.5 lb. we have to find the equation between the weight of the crate and the number of oranges it contains.
Let the weight of crate is w lb. It is given that the weight of each orange is same amount the weight of crate.
Hence, weight of 1 orange is w lb
⇒ weight of G oranges is Gw lb
Total weight of crate filled with G oranges is 24.5 lb
⇒ weight of G oranges + weight of crate = 24.5
⇒ Gw+w=24.5 ⇒ (G+1)w=24.5

which represent the relationship between the weight of the crate and the number of oranges it contains
