hey so im having a hard time understanding how to do the distributive property can someone explain to me how do to it and a example

so lets take this equation as an example

4(x+3)

now of course you can't actually add x+3 because we dont yet know the value of x, but distibutive property can let us do that.

what you're gonna wanna do it distribute the 4 into the equation so it then turns into

4x+12

you multiply all terms in the parenthesis by the number on the outside

So you would start off with 3(2-2) and then multiply 3 and 2 and 3 - 2
