Paul, Colin and Brian are waiters. One night the restaurant earns tips totalling £78.40. They share the tips in the ratio 1:3:5. How much more does Colin get over Paul?

Answer:

Share of Paul = 2/8*78.40=19.6

Share of Colin = 5/8*78.40=49

And

Share of Brian =1/8*78.40=9.8

Explanation:

They share the tips in the ratio 2:5:1.

It means , the total share is 8 ,

that 2 out of 8 is the share of Paul

5 out of 8 is the share of Colin

And 1 out of 8 is the share of Brain

Now total tip = 78.40

Share of Paul = 2/8*78.40=19.6

Share of Colin = 5/8*78.40=49

And

Share of Brian =1/8*78.40=9.8
