Four friends were arguing about the time scales for geoscience prosses related to plate tectonics. They each had different ideas about how long it takes for the motion of earth's tectonic plate to produce changes on earth's surface. This is what they said:

Natia: The movement of Earth's plates forms landforms over million of years.

Zeke: The movement of Earth's pates causes rapid events that can occur within seconds.

Akoni: The movement of Earth's plate only moves continents across Earth's surface

Jan: The movement of Earth's plates only moves continents across Earth's surface.

Which student do you agree with?

Natia
Zeke
Akoni
Jan

I agree with Natia, at an average rate around 100 years a tectonic plate can move 62.5 miles if not more in 1 million years
