let pumkins be P and watermelons be W s0

5P+20W=135 and 10P+16W=150

express first equation in terms of P

5P+20W=135

5P=135-20W (divide equation by 5)

P=27-4W

now express the second equation using the new P value

10P+16W=150

10(27-4W)+16W=150

270-40W+16W=150

120=24W

W=5

now plug in w value and solve for p

5P+20(5)=135

P=7
