A child has had a 104°F fever for several hours. Why is this considered a medical emergency and contact of a doctor should be immediate? What could happen to the body if the fever continues?

well of course everyone knows fevers are bad and a sign of sickness. if a high fever occurs for many days this can be a sign of a virus, infection, or some kind of other deep medical condition. if the fever continues untreated febrile seizures can occur, as well as infections, and weakness of muscles.
