(I can’t really help on #5but i do know how to do #4)

Answer: y= 6 x=4

1. Re-write the problem:
3x= -1+2y
y= x+2

2. Substitute x+2 into y value in other equation:
3x= -1+ 2(x+2)

3. Use the distributive property [multiply 2 by everything in the parentheses]:
3x= -1 + 2x+ 4

4. Get rid of any remaining whole numbers to try to isolate x by canceling out the -1 [you add one to -1 then add 1 to 3x since everything you do on one side of the equal sign you do to the other]:
3x= 2x+4

5. Try to get the x’s on one side [subtract 2x from 2x and 2x from 3x
x= 4

6. Plug in x value to any equation and solve:
y = 4+ 2
y=6
