Our brains can tell where a sound is coming from based off of which ear it reaches first. If it reaches our left ear first, the noise is coming from our left. If it reaches our right ear first, it’s coming from the right.

I think it catches the sounds from vibrations that make sound waves. Or at least that's what my teacher says they are. We just started learning more about sound energy and she said that we hear things because soundwaves come and reach our ears after something vibrates.
