When you carry an object while walking at constant speed in a straight line, you exert an upward force on the object. Why are you not doing any work on the object?

When you carry an object while walking at constant speed in a straight line, you exert an upward force on the object.

Because any distance is not covered.

As

work done =displacement * force

if displacement is zero work done also be zero.
