Three square flower beds with side of 2m are dug in a rectangular piece of land whose length is 5.2 m and width is 4.8 m. What is the area of the remaining land?

Answer: 12.96 m²

Explanation:

The area of the piece of land that the flower beds were dug in is:

= Length * width

= 5.2 * 4.8

= 24.96 m²

The flower beds were 3 in number and all had the shape of a square.

Their area is:

= 3 * (Length * width)

= 3 * ( 2 * 2)

= 3 * 4

= 12 m² for all three flower beds

Remaining land:

= 24.96 - 12

= 12.96 m²
