convert them all into improper fractions first -
4 1/2 = 9/2 6 1/3 = 19/3. 1 1/3 = 4/3
then find the lowest common multiple of 2 and 3 = 6
9/2 = 27/6. 19/3 = 38/6. 4/3 = 8/6
now add them all together
27/6 + 38/6 + 8/6 = 73/6
then change it back to a mixed fraction
73 divided by 6 = 12 r 1
73/6 = 12 1/6
so Peter can make 12 full cups or 12 and 1/6 cups
