Solving Inverse Variation Relationships

The value of z varies inversely with the value of w. The constant of variation is 2. Which are possible values for z
and w? Check all that apply
z=4,w= 1/2
z= 2, w = 3
z= 1/3 w=w
z= 4/15 w= 5/3
z=7/2 w= 1/3

Answer:

z=4,w= 1/2

Explanation:

If z varies inversely with the value of w, then;

z = k/w

k is the constant of variation

k = zw

If k = 2

zw = 2

The product of z and w must give us 2. This will allow us to know the possible values of z and w

For z=4,w= 1/2

zw = 4 * 1/2

zw = 2

This answer is therefore true

Hence the possible value is z=4,w= 1/2
