Given:

The figure of a right angle triangle ABC.

AB = x, BC=7, m∠B = 90°, ∠C=16°.

To find:

The value of x.

Solution:

In a right angle triangle,

\tan \theta=(Opposite)/(Adjacent)

In triangle ABC,

\tan C=(AB)/(BC)

\tan (16^\circ)=(x)/(7)

0.28675=(x)/(7)

Multiply both sides by 7.

0.28675* 7=x

2.00725=x

x\approx 2

Therefore, the value of x is about 2 units.
