Actually Welcome to the Concept of the Variables and linear equations.

Let, the first number be x and other one be 2x+5 ,according to the statement of the question.

Since, there sum is 44 ,

hence, 2x+5+x = 44

==> 3x +5 = 44

===> 3x = 44-5

==> 3x = 39

==> x = 39/3

===> x = 13

so the two numbers would be,

1.) First number ==> x = 13

2.) Second number ==> 2x+5 = 31
