Answer: x = -3

Explanation:

Given

-7x - 14 = 2x + 13

Subtract 2x on both sides

-7x - 14 - 2x = 2x + 13 - 2x

-9x - 14 = 13

Add 14 on both sides

-9x - 14 + 14 = 13 + 14

-9x = 27

Divide -9 on both sides

-9x / -9 = 27 / -9

\boxed {x = -3}

Check:

Left-hand side = -7x - 14

= -7 (-3) - 14

= 21 - 14

= 7

Right-hand side = 2x + 13

= 2 (-3) + 13

= -6 + 13

= 7

7 = 7

Hope this helps!! :)
