I texted a dude a week ago and he still hasn't responded. We used to be best friends and I don't know what the heck happened. What do I do? Is he dead?

Do you have his friend or family's number. Try contacting them to see if hes okay. Or have someone else do that if you aren't comfortable doing it urself.
