The intent for the separation of powers is to prevent the concentration of power and provide for checks and balances.

The goal was to make king like power impossible, since the rule of England was a monarchy, they wanted to create a system that needed the branches to approve each other’s decisions to prevent the executive branch from become too powerful or making a negative decision by its self.
