sum is 2(a² + b²)

Explanation:

${(a - b)}^(2) + {(a + b)}^(2) \\ = ( {a}^(2) - 2ab + {b}^(2) ) + ( {a}^(2) + 2ab + {b}^(2) ) \\ = 2 {a}^(2) + 2 {b}^(2) \\ = 2( {a}^(2) + {b}^(2) )$
