Pythagorean Theorem -

a^(2) + b^(2) = c^(2)

1 - Input the values!

9^(2) + x^(2) = 18^(2)

2. Find the exponents!

81 + x^(2) = 324

3. Multi step Equations!

81 - 81 = 0 \\ 324 - 81 = 243

4. Use square roots to find x!

x = √(243)

Answer:

b = 15.59

Explanation:

a^2 + b^2 = c^2

9^2 + b^2 = 18^2

81 + b^2 = 324

-81 -81

b^2 = 243

b = 15.59
