g(x) = 3x + 2

y = 3x + 2

x = 3y + 2

3y = x - 2

y = x/3 - 2/3

inverse g(x) = (x - 2) / 3

g(x) = 4 - 5x

y = 4 - 5x

x = 4 - 5y

5y = 4 - x

y = 4/5 - x/5

inverse g(x) = (4 - x) / 5

Answer:

(x - 2)/3

(x - 4)/-5 or (-x + 4)/5

Explanation:

this is an inverse function, and to solve an inverse function you would :

swap x and g(x) without bringing the x coefficient with it, just simply swap the variables. Then, solve for g(x), and that's it

the first question's answer is :

g(x) = 3x + 2

x = 3(g(x)) + 2

x - 2 = 3(g(x))

(x - 2)/3 = g(x)

the second one is:

g(x) = 4 - 5x

x = 4 - 5(g(x))

x - 4 = -5(g(x))

(x-4)/-5 = g(x)
