They are asking for how many like term, so you would put how many numbers you see that are different.

-12x - 4x - 72 + 10y^3

-16x - 72 + 10y^3

That is as far as you could go.

There are 3 numbers that look different.

When I say this I mean that one number has no variable, one number has a variable, and another number has a variable and it’s cubed.

So that would be 3 like terms.

And for the simplified form, it’s

-16x - 72 + 10y^3
