The missing angle of the 90-35-x triangle is 180-90-35=90-35=55.

Because both triangle have angles 90º, 55º, and 35º, they should be congruent, right?

Wrong, AAA determines similarity and not congruence. We need SSS, SAS, AAS, or ASA and AAA is not one of those.
