How do I solve problems like this? I did it last year, but I don't remember how to do it.

Solve for x:

1/2x + 3 = 7

2x + 3 - 4x - 7 = 11

thanks!!

1/2x +3 = 7
-3 -3
1/2x=4 divide both sides by 1/2
x=2
2x + 3 -4x -7 =11
-2x -4 =11
+4 +4
-2x=15 divide both by -2
x= -7.5

Answer:

8

Explanation:

I do not know the details of the work but if it's a simple "Solve for x" question, you're not quite right.

1/2x+3=7

1/2x= 4

x= 8
