Answer:

The lion from the Wizard of Oz is afraid to be brave and courageous and is often known in the story as a "cowardly lion". This itself is ironic because although he has the ability to do what he is afraid of and is a lion (one of the most bravest and scariest animals), he doesn't redeem himself capable of this ability.

The Lion, in spite of his fearful whimpers, has access to a well of bravery and courage, and yet feels that he lacks these things. Thus, there is an inherent irony in the fact that none of the characters can see that they possess the positive qualities they so feel they lack.
