First we represent "x" through "y"

y = x + 6

x = y - 6

Then we substatute this value instead of "x" in the other formula, and so we get...

y = - 2x - 3

y = - 2(y - 6) - 3

y = - 2y + 12 - 3

3y = 9

x = y -6
