1. Distribute the 5 to 2 and -y (10-5y + y = -6)
2. Add the singular y to 5y to get 6y
3. Subtract 10 from both sides (-6y=-16)
4. What’s times -6y equals -16?
Answer: y≈2.667

5(2-y)+y=-6
(distribute the 5 to the 2 and y which will get you 10 and -5y)
10-5y+y=-6
(subtract the 10 from -6)
-4y=-16
(divide -16/-4)
y=4
