Diego and Jada are both trying to write an expression with fewer terms that is equivalent to

7a+5b−3a+4b
Jada thinks 10a+1b is equivalent to the original expression.
Diego thinks 4a+9b is equivalent to the original expression.
Substitute your own values for “a” and “b” and determine if the expressions are equivalent. Show your work in the space provided.

Answer:

Diego's answer 4b+9b is correct:)

Explanation:

Our first step is to combine like terms.

Causing you to combine 7a and -3a which gives you 4a because 7-3=4

Next, you would combine 5b and 4b which gives you 9b because 5+4=9

After you have combined like terms you would have your simplified equation 4b+9b causing Diego's answer to be correct!

Hope this helps!

Please tell me if I am wrong, I enjoy learning from my mistakaes:)

Have a great rest of your day:)
