(-8x + 3y) - (2 + 4y)

= -8x + 3y - 2 - 4y

= -8x + 3y - 4y - 2

= -8x - y - 2

Answer:

-8x - y - 2

Explanation:

(-8x + 3y) - (2 + 4y)

Change this to addition, but change the signs in the second parentheses:

(-8x + 3y) + (-2 - 4y)

Add like terms:

-8x - y - 2

So, the difference is -8x - y - 2
