How do meiosis and sexual reproduction result in offspring with genetic variation?

Fruit flies have 8 chromosomes in their body cells, while dandelion cells have 16 chromosomes. Which species do you predict makes the more genetically varied offspring?

Meiosis and sexual reproduction and allow for the mixing of different types of DNA. so for example the mom might have a dominant and recessive trait and the dad might have a recessive trait. when the app spring mix there is A 1/4 of a chance for the offspring to have a full recessive trait. although the dandelions have more chromosomes dandelions are actually a sexual reproduction since they are plants there in like fruit flies which although only have eight chromosomes they need another fruit fly in order to reproduce
