Using the zero product property

x^2 +1 = 0 x-1= 0

x^2 = -1 x=1

Taking the square root of the equation on the left

sqrt(x^2) = sqrt(-1)

x = ±i where i is the imaginary number

We still have x=1 from the equation on the right
