1. A ball is kicked up from a platform 36 feet above the ground. The height of

the ball h(t) above the ground (measured in feet) can be modeled by the
function h (t)
-3t2 + 12t + 36, where t represents the amount of time
(in seconds) since the ball was kicked. How long to the nearest second did it
take the ball to hit the ground?
-
seconds to hit the ground

Answer:6

Explanation:

So when the ball hits the ground -3t^2+12t+36 must equal 0

So you can factor a -3 out

-3(t^2-4t-12)=0

Factor -3(t-6)(t+2)=0

T-6=0 t+2=0

T=6 t=Negative 2

And since time can’t be negative the answer is 6
