Is 6y-27 and 3(3y-9) equivalent or not?

Explanation:

These two expressions are not equivalent. They are not equivalent, because when you solve the second one, to put it into its simpler form, you have to distribute the 3 out to 3y and -9, which you would get 9y-27. And 9y-27 is not 6y-27, they have different y values. I hope this helps :)
