Explanation:

x + 24

x + 2

x + 24 + 2 = x + 26

(x + 26)/(x + 2) = 2/1

x + 26 = 2x + 4

x = 22 years

The present age of the son is 22 years.

Let the age of the son after 2 years be x.

Then the age of the man after 2 years be 2x.

The present age of son = x - 2

The present age of man = 2x - 2

According to the question:

2x - 2 - (x - 2) = 24

x = 22 years
