x ≈ 36.2

Explanation:

Since the legs are congruent then the triangle is isosceles.

The altitude bisects the base and divides the triangle into 2 right triangles.

Using the right triangle on the right with legs 33 and 15

Apply Pythagoras' identity to the right triangle, that is

x² = 33² + 15² = 1089 + 225 = 1314 ( take the square root of both sides )

x =
√(1314) ≈ 36.2 ( to 1 dec. place )
