Explanation:

1) Cut Cylinder in half, perpendicular to the circle face. Effectively making a rectangle face. The Pencil diagnolly reaching from the top corner to the bottom corner act like a divider which splits the rectangle into 2 triangles. Which allows for us to use Pythagorem theorem.

pythagorean theorem:
c^2=a^2+b^2}

The Pencil is 17cms long. So
17^(2)=
{a^2+b^2}

the height is 15cms long. So
17^(2)=
15^2+b^2}

We need to Solve for B, so we will subtract A from C since C is the longest side on the Triangle.

289-225=
√(64\\) = 8

b=8

b is the diameter of the Cylinder

Since we need the Radius squared for Cylinder we divide the Diameter in half. 8/2=4

4X4=16

Next we wil figure out the Volume,
