Explanation:

Give system of equations are :

8x-9y=15 ...(1)

−x+4y=1 ...(2)

Multiply equation (2) by 8.

−8x+32y=8 ..(3)

Add equation (1) and (3).

8x-9y -8x + 32y = 15+8

23y = 23

y = 1

Put the value of y in equation (2).

−x+4(1)=1

-x = -4+1

x = 3

Hence, the values of x and y are 3 and 1.
