Use the distributive property to multiply 3 by x-5

3x - 15 \leqslant x - 8

Subtract x from both sides

3x - 15 - x \leqslant 8

Combine 2x and -x to get 2x

2x - 15 \leqslant - 8

Add 15 to both sides

2x \leqslant - 8 + 15

Add -8 and 15 to get 7

2x \leqslant 7

Now divide both the sides by 2

As 2 is > 0, the inequality direction remains the same.

x \leqslant (7)/(2) \\

Hope it helps you from my side

Answer:

x ≤ 7/2

Explanation:

Expand brackets: 3x - 15 ≤ x - 8

Subtract x from both sides: 2x - 15 ≤ -8

Add 15 to both sides: 2x ≤ 7

Divide both sides by 2: x ≤ 7/2
