The ratio of boys to girls on the school swim team is 5:11. If there are 80 students on the swim team, how many of them are boys?

25 boys is the correct answer!

5:11

5 + 11 = 16

16 x 5 = 80

So we now know we have to multiply by 5.

5 x 5 = 25 boys

5 x 11 = 55 girls

25:55 is the same as 5:11
