you solve these by plugging the numbers into pythagorean theorem which is

a^2 + b^2 = c^2 (a squared plus b squared equal c squared)

C is the hypotenuse which is the longest side across from the right angel (assuming all these problems are for right triangles)

so 17 would be 9.5^2 + 3.8^2 = c^2

So 90.25 + 14.44 = c^2

104.69=c^2

Then to solve for c take the square root of each side and get

10.23=c

To do the other ones where a or b doesn’t have a value, it’s almost the same but you just have to plug in the variables in different places and solve it
